In 2019 August, Cameroon power utility company Energy of Cameroon S.A. (Eneo) has approved a consortium led by Norwegian solar developer Scatec Solar for the construction of two PV plants with a total installed generation capacity of 25 MW. S far, Cameroon has a total installed solar power capacity of around 1.3 GW and a population of 24 million people.

The world’s 53rd largest country, Cameroon is located between 2°–13° North latitude and 8°–16° East longitude. As a consequence, it has moderate to high levels of Global Horizontal Irradiation. World Bank Group has mapped the photovoltaic power potential in the country (see image below).
